Customer Challenge

1. No real-time visibility.

Venues have traditionally been unable to quantify an event’s footprint as it happens. Measurement is the first step toward any credible Carbon Neutral claim – and that step was missing.


2. Fragmented operational data.

Emissions data lived across more than ten departments and a patchwork of IoT devices. Without a unifying layer, no single number could represent the event, and no department knew its share of the footprint.


3. Full-scope credibility (the technical hurdle).

Capturing all three scopes – particularly Scope 3 attendee travel – and standing behind the totals required recognized, defensible emission factors rather than estimates.

AltoTech delivered a full-venue, full-scope carbon platform built from connected capabilities:

  • Real-Time Carbon Footprint Tracking Dashboard: displays event emissions live from the moment an event starts, replacing after-the-fact reporting with in-the-moment visibility.

  • Scope 2 Energy Intelligence: AltoTech’s core expertise. Digital meters break electricity consumption down by Air Side, Motor Side, Lighting, and Plug Load, captured as real-time kWh across the venue’s rooms and halls.

  • Scope 3 Attendee Capture: attendees scan with their phones to calculate travel emissions (airplane, taxi, public transport, motorbike), extending measurement beyond the venue’s own footprint.

  • TGO-Aligned Calculation Engine: Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions are computed using standards and emission factors from TGO, giving the numbers external credibility.

  • Reporting Suite: organizers can download pre-event, post-event, carbon-avoidance, and offset reports — the documentation trail needed to certify an event as Carbon Neutral and offset the remainder via certified carbon credits.

  • Engineering & Building Automation: AHU systems, energy valves, digital meters, and an integrated building-automation system that connects the convention centre’s equipment into one platform.

Impact

The platform turns sustainability from a year-end report into a real-time decision:

  • Real-time, full-scope visibility is now operational – Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions are visible live, from event start.

  • A single source of truth across 10+ departments – unified data lets the venue assign each department a carbon-reduction KPI for the next event.
